Lurcher Link is a voluntary, non-profit making, organisation whose aim is to try and save Lurchers' lives by liaising between rescues, stray pounds and members of the public.
Many Lurchers are destroyed each week because the stray pounds are full and their local rescues have no room for any more dogs. Yet in other parts of the country, people are looking for Lurchers to rehome.
We wish to rectify this situation by being a point of contact for all rescues, the public and stray centres.
All of the dogs that are taken into our care receive a thorough assessment in a foster home environment where possible, although some may spend time in kennel situation at our HQ until we can move them. We also have Lurcher specific behaviourists who will liaise with us regarding any rehabilitation work needed and this will be carried on through to the dogs' new homes.
All of the dogs rehomed through Lurcher Link are neutered, vaccinated, wormed, de-flea-ed and microchipped. People adopting puppies too young to neuter are expected to carry this out within a stated period of time, upon veterinary advice.
Any obvious injuries or illnesses will also be treated whilst in our care. Should a dog be homed with an on-going problem, Lurcher Link will undertake to provide assistance with veterinary costs for that problem.
Lurcher Link will rehome throughout the UK, upon completion of a succesful homecheck. If you already have a dog, we request that you travel to meet any dog which you wish to adopt, to ensure that they get on OK.
If you wish to enquire about any of our dogs, email: kaye@lurcher.org or ring: 01422 240168
