I'm not sure what we are doing wrong though. We have written to several people, put a note up on one of the threads about a particular dog and nothing. Its as though we are not here.
We are a middle aged couple that have owned 2 greyhound lurchers from puppyhood through to old age. Alfie was south east champion agility dog and Tobie was very influenced by his collie side and spent most of his life trying to round up other animals!
We have been looking for a whippet lurcher to live with us in our home in the southern alps of France.
We are back and forth to the UK but we have a camper van and use the euro tunnel so we are not separated from the dog.
We have no other animals and our children are grown up but we do have a 5 year old grandson.
Our forever friend will live with us in the mountains. We are both hill walkers and so its important we have a dog who needs plenty of exercise!
People misunderstand about the temperatures in the southern French alps and believe it is very cold. Although we have a lot of snow in the winter, the humidity here is so dry and the sun always shines. There is rarely any wind unless you get up high and there is no dampness. Because of this it always feels pleasant. When you watch any dog being walked in the snow here, it will bury itself to cool off. By February we often walk around in t-shirts.
France are very laid back about well behaved dogs and allow them into restaurants, supermarkets and shops and even the cinema.
I am sorry that you haven't received anything from us. Your pre adoption form was submitted and picked up by my colleague yesterday and that should have generated an e mail to you saying that we would get back to you within 48 hours. I am very sorry if that e mail didn't actually arrive with you.
We have many forms every day and, as we are all volunteers, we work through them as quickly as possible and that is why we ask you to bear with us for a couple of days before we can get back to you.
My colleague will be contacting you as soon as possible.
Thanks for getting back to me kizzeysmum. I have actually submitted 3 application forms but for 2 of them bounced back to me the day before yesterday and so I didn't think you had received this one. I didn't get a reply email but will look out for it.

peggy: Also a brand new greyhound owner, I love her already. It's hard to believe she is 4 years old, I have to keep reminding myself she was in a kennel and not a home. She is a beaut, but goes skits around food, I suppose it was the excieting time of day x
