We've lost Jaffa, our big, orange, brindle greyhound boy today. He bolted from the car after a walk in the park. I've contacted the dog warden, the local vets and rgt rescue centre and put him on the dog lost site but i can't seem to add a photo. Anything else I should do? It's so cold tonight and I'm so worried. We've had an army of people looking for him for the last 4 hours, I'm sick with worry. He went missing today from the Lichfield area WS13 7QH. A very worried mum

I can't see him up on www.doglost.co.uk yet but certainly the best idea is to make up posters and get them up around the area he went missing. Once he's up on the DL site they will send out alerts to vets, helpers etc in your area but really poster, poster and poster some more in order to get the word out in case someone has picked him up and he may have lost his tag. In the meantime email local vets with the poster as well. Hope he's soon home.

Thank you. I've been out again and posted up lots of posters so hopefully that may help.
Just don't want him out in the cold on his own, he has no road sense so I'm thinking the worst.
We've only had him 9 months but just can't bear the thought of losing him (the tears are streaming as I'm typing).
My daughter is now fast akip and with hubby at work, I'm going to have to wait til the morning to start looking again.
What a horrible way to start the year....

If you are on Facebook it's worth setting up a page and linking it to local pet sale/ lost and found sites..someone might have taken him in xxxx

What is the name of the park where he went missing please? I have relatives in Lichfield who will go out with their dogs during the night when its quiet and look for him.

Hi Diane
That's very kind of you. He went missing from Wolsey Road. I have checked all the local parks 10 times over and literally asked every person I've seen. He only normally goes to either Beacon Park or the one off the A51 (think it's called Darwin Park) but I wouldn't advice anyone to go out at night to these areas, especially Darwin as it's pitch black and there are some unsavoury characters about.
We got him from the RGT in april and prior to that he'd been surviving on the streets for 2 months so he is quite resourceful. I'm hoping somebody will have taken him in as he's a very friendly sole for the night and will take him to the local vets tomorrow, fingers and everything else crossed.
I'll be out first thing in the morning again. I've put a lost dog sign up on the island in front of Morrisons, in Darwin Park and one at the Dimbles shops and where he was sighted at 2 pm near Garrick Close. I'll print some more off tomorow and will literally cover Lichfield in them.
Hoping and praying he will be back home tomorrow with a full belly and a big telling off.
Thanks Nettie for sharing the news on facebook, I'm a bit of techno phobe so don't have a facebook account myself. I appreciate your help.
Thanks everyone for your kind words, I know you all understand what our babies mean to us.
Michelle x
