Hello, is Ty still available for adoption? Im currently unable to adopt, however in a few months I will be in a good situation to do so. I was just wondering if he was still there and available as it has been quite a long time since the last post. If so, when i am able to consider it I would love to fill out the form and hopefully meet him if he was still there at the time. He just sounds lovely!
Hi Eleanor.......... Yes Ty is still up for adoption , so, when you are ready , just fill out the pre adoption questionnaire, and, someone will get in touch ok . As a matter of interest have you got another dog at home , as I know Ty couldnt really be an only dog .
Hello Carol, thank you for responding to me so quickly. I myself do not have a dog, however I will be living on the same street as my parents who have three very easygoing and dog-friendly dogs. As myself and my partner do work, they would be dog sitting a fair amount, and also the dogs would be spending a lot of time together, and always walking together. I also would hope to get another dog in the future but not straight away. Would that be sufficient do you think?
Hi Eleanor , I have been struggling to put how Ty is in the home, across to you, but i will try ok. . He is still quite an unsure dog which is probably due to his bad beginnings , and , still has us ( well my husband ) up every night , as if he hears a noise, and, cant see where it is coming from , he becomes fearful, barks, and, then will howl. Once my husband is down, he will then settle with him , which is probably because he has so bonded with him over time. Even in the day, if he hears a noise the other side of the fence , it still makes him fearful , and, again he will bark ,and, eventually howl. Personally i sort of feel that he will so need another dog as company in the home, and, preferably an older bitch, who will keep him in place if he over steps the mark, as , we do have a male whippet , and, he will not rest until he gets him to move from where ever he is, so, that he can then have his spot..........now, with our older female greyhound , there is no way he would do that , as he respects her , and, knows that she will tell him off . All I can say Eleanor, is Gap is an amazing rescue, and, can so so match the right dog to the right home , they are truly unbelievable , and, they are always there to offer any on going advice that could be needed too. When i so wanted a rescue dog from Gap, i initially was interested in a young male dog , but, when i had the homecheck, it showed up , that he wasnt going to be the right one for us ,and, our other female dog. I was then directed to an older male , to see if we would like to adopt him, as he matched what was right for us. We both fell in love with him, and, were truly Blessed to be able to adopt Mortimer into our family ........he was perfect for us Eleanor , and, as he settled, he fitted in like he'd been with us for years . As I say, when you are ready, please do fill out the pre adoption questionnaire, and, who knows, maybe Lisa will agree that your home could be right for Ty, but, if he isnt, then believe me, she will truly find the most perfect hound for you , and, your life style " guaranteed " . Take care Carol x
Hi, I am Ty's foster mum , and, have been for the past 3.5 years , so, Bless Him he is 4 years old now . We havnt any young children here , and, as i have only 1 adult grandson , I dont know how to really answer this. He is still nervy ,and, still has his fears over noises, and, voices when people come to visit , he is also quite a big boy , standing about 27 inches to the shoulder . My advice would be to fill out a pre adoption form , stating that you are interested in Ty , and then someone will soon get in touch with you pretty soon. Lisa is truly amazing , and, her understanding ,and, knowledge on these hounds is unbelievable ...........she also knows Ty really well , so, she could then talk things though with you . He truly could be the perfect hound for your family , and, if he is , then that would be terrific for him , but, if he is not, then based on what you put on your pre adoption form , she will then match you up with the right hound for you, and, believe me , she is amazing at doing that , and, we do have some stunning, and, lovely hounds looking for their forever home too. I Look forward to hearing how things go forward with you . Take care Carol x
Hi Andrea , If you look on, Greyhound Gap Public Group on Facebook , at the top , is where you can fill out a pre adoption questionnaire , and once that is in , someone from Gap will get in touch with you . Ty is still with me on foster , but he is now 7 years of age as the original thread was put on so long ago , so, if he now isn't right for you , some one will be in touch and maybe recommend another one more suitable , and believe me gap have some fabulous hounds at the moment, and, Lisa's knowledge is so amazing , she always matches the right hound to the right home . As I say , if you fill in the form Andrea ,and if you are still interested in Ty then put that on the form, then that would be so terrific, and , someone will get in touch with you asap . Wishing you all the best in adopting whatever hound is your perfect one , take care .
Thanks Carol for your speedy response, I've filled in the form, Ty would be the only dog apart from my 3 cats, I've been reading the other threads about him, where you state it would be better if he was placed with an older bitch. I've also expressed interest in some lurcher puppies also. Thanks Andrea x

peggy: Also a brand new greyhound owner, I love her already. It's hard to believe she is 4 years old, I have to keep reminding myself she was in a kennel and not a home. She is a beaut, but goes skits around food, I suppose it was the excieting time of day x
