URGENT Foster home needed for 9 month old whippet cross bitch who thus far has had a really shite time. She is currently in a vets in Rochdale with a broken leg and tomorrow we have to make the decission whether to fix with a fixator or to go straight ahead and ampuate. We need to try to work on somewhere for her to be either way so we can move forward with her. Owners of two days took her into the vets and asked she was euthanised.

I know we're not suitable to foster puppies (or any other dog for that matter ;D ;D) but if you get stuck she's welcome to stay here even if it's just a temporary measure

Thanks. Those who have offered would you be able to cope with a dog with an external fixator on for at least 6 weeks? Its going to need time to heal and someone around to keep her calm and possibly quite a bit of crate resting?

With a fixator I'd be a bit concerned here to be honest, Spook ate my fabric crate so I only have a wire one, plus while I'm about a lot more I do need to pop into the office for a few hours a day. She would be most welcome but there maybe someone better set up xx

Lisa if you get stuck I've spoke with Eric and he thinks we could manage, always someone here, no crate but we could possibly borrow one xxx

Hope she recovers soon, whichever decision is made. I have a medium size wire crate (Vector's, saluki/border collie cross, it wasn't big enough for our grey Tigger) that I would be happy to lend for the cause. The only catch is that we are going away for 3 weeks from Saturday. I could run it to Jackie (just jackie), Linda (loupylou), Tina (tinar) or Katy (kittie87) tomorrow, if this would be helpful. X Mary

Realistically, we probably wouldn't be the best but if there's anything we can do to help just shout

Just to update that Belle had her surgery on Friday and is doing well. Cathy one of the vet nurses has taken her home with her for a couple of weeks so they can monitor and wait till the stitches are out. She had had the leg plated not fixated as although it was a dearer option it was the easiest in terms of recovery.
I have to say a MASSIVE thanks to the vets who also spayed her at the sametime and have caped the bill for us off at 500 pound although it is already nearer 1000 and have asked to be put in touch with Jo to arrange a collection box and to try and get some of the money back for us by running a feature on this sweet girl.
