I am looking for a "short term" foster for a 10 year old greyhound whose owner (not us) has been admitted to hospital to start treatment for lymphona and bone marrow replacement. The owners partner works 10 hours a day then goes to hospital to visit so leaving the dog alone for up to 14 hours a day. The dog is a 10 year old male, fully vac'd and castrated, insured and is usually good with other dogs but NOT small furry or cat friendly. We are trying to keep the dog as close to home as possible to enable visiting for his owner on his respite visits home although a short drive would be ok.At present they live in Crewe so somewhere within about 1 hour travel would be preferred. This dog is his life and to know he was being well cared for would make him happy and give him a purpose to get through his treatment which could be intense over a period of time hence the "short term" as nobody can give an exact time scale yet but were looking at between 2 and 3 months. Hoping somebody out in "dog" land can help out and the owner has said they will contribute to upkeep whilst in foster.
I foster for them when dog owners are ill or in hospital temporarily. They are a fantastic charity. If he was near me and came reccommended by them I would happily have him until his owner recovered, I would gladly help but I am not anywhere near Crewe
Please try them they may be able to help and offer support.
So sorry the dog is not cat friendly as I only live a few miles away but haven't the facilities to seperate them. Sorry hope someone can help. Don't know if there are any in Crewe but we have a dog daycare centre here which is great. They take dogs from 7am to 6.30pm for about £15 a day and when they come home they are knackered

missfleur2003: Hello. I am new to this site and noticed that the posts for available dogs seem to be quite old. Some seem to be years old. Are the dogs shown still available.

peggy: Also a brand new greyhound owner, I love her already. It's hard to believe she is 4 years old, I have to keep reminding myself she was in a kennel and not a home. She is a beaut, but goes skits around food, I suppose it was the excieting time of day x

steeveet: Hi there, just had our home inspection by a lovely lady with her Greyhound Arthur, who I could have happily snaffled as he was sweet and at home with our girl Belle. Does anyone here know how we now get to meet any of the dogs who need a home?
