Sarah x Hey don't worry, this is completely typical of what we Gappers a bit further north are like all the time trying synchronize our diaries! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Thanks all . . . I'll sound-out Birmingham City Council next week. In the meantime, please does anyone know which specific areas of the city centre it would be worth naming/trying for on our application? Cheers guys Jo]x

I think you'd get a lot of interest by St Martin's Church - it's where the Bull Ring shopping centre meets the Bull Ring Markets so you get all kinds of people passing there and it is a big open space, near restaurants so I think people have a bit more time.
Agree with Mel that somewhere by the "floozy in the jacuzzi"/Council House/Chamberlain Square would be good too as this is an entry route to the City Centre from some of the older car parks.
I also think where Union Street meets High Street is a hub but there are regularly flower sellers etc there so they may be restricted.
I would avoid the junction of New Street and Corporation Street as it gets horrendously busy and is no fun at all. Other sections of New Street may be OK.
The railway station (New Street) is currently undergoing a major refurbishment and would not be a good venue.
I think you may get given a list of venues by the council in which case I'm happy to review them and give local knowledge!!!

I'm sure I can do all of them although 1st Sept would be my preferred option.

Have voted for 15th and 22nd, that doesn't mean I can't do the other dates but as they are in the school holidays it is very likely I will be away as we try to cram a lot in 6 weeks!!! If I can I will but prefer to commit to later September dates. Penny

Okay, I've used my time waiting for Autoglass to come ( ;D) wisely, and have submitted an application for: 1st Choice - Saturday 1st September 2012
2nd Choice - Saturday 22nd September 2012Hopefully we'll get one of those dates BUT . . . (and this is where I want to cry) . . . we might not be allowed to take the dogs . BUT I have asked for special consideration to be given to us so there MAY be a chance . . . Thanks all SO much for your enthusiasm! We'll have a fun day, that's for sure! Jo x

Not able to take the dogs? Why? If Dave's out doing other things and can't take Axel then I wouldn't be able to come anyway for more than an hour or so...why would they do that?!

Public safety and cultural sensitivity issues Mel . . . but all we can do is prove that we are responsible, sensible, have been other places with no issues, have a good track record (racing reference unintended) and great PLI . . . We shall see And tell Dave up front that he can't go anywhere on those days, just in case . . . ;D ;D Jo x

Unfortunately Mel we can't do ANY street collections in any of the London boroughs with dogs, its the Met Police policy (except for where they don't have jurisdiction like train stations)
