Hi We brought Towser (previously Bronson) home yesterday, he's 3, been in an RSPCA rescue kennel for 9 months and another RSPCA previously. He was seized by the RSPCA because we wasn't being looked after. He is a total love, gentle, laid back and sweet. It took him about 20 minutes to take over the sofa. We had a fairly good first night, he needs to be properly house trained so there was a little puddle this morning, He also helped himself to a couple of packets of crisps!! I'm looking forward to his personality emerging, he's been a bit depressed in kennels. But I don't think it will take long!! Lou

I love the first few days of looking after a new dog, watching them and trying to understand their personality, what makes them tick and the challenge of teaching them the "house rules" - everytime a "rule" is understood it gives me a real buzz.
Tiring though it may be, make sure you enjoy the first few days/weeks as much as possible. The first few weeks set the foundations on which everything will be based.
Saw your other thread about bedtime, everyone is different and we all have different house rules for our hounds.. wherever you want Towser to sleep, just be consistent - if he whines ignore it or if he continues, a firm "be quiet" - he will adapt in time...
Best of luck with bringing out Towser's personality..
