Bobby's home now. He's such a dear boy. Within a couple of hours he had settled. He already has a choice of 3 beds. He stayed downstairs all night once he understood that was his place, then after an early morning visit in the garden he came and had a cuddle on our bed. He is hesitant when out walking at the moment- so many new places, people, dogs and smells to find out about. Once we are sure he will come back to us when called, we'll let him off lead and have a proper run.
Keith and Bobby are off up the allotment now. I have to do some work.

Hello Ruth I'm pleased you've found found a place to update us all on Bobby's 1st night. I must say he seems to be settling in very well and i'm glad it didn't take him long to find the sofa or your bed either ;D Thanks for the photo you sent me last night, which i thought i would include here for his fans to see! Diane x

Bobby has been joining in with all the things we do- the allotment, shopping, visiting Rita's Farm where we get manure from and much more. I really needed my camera so i could record Bobby lying in the sun on top of a (thankfully dry) pile of manure that we were shovelling into the trailer today... His morning walks with me have been very successful, he has met a number of the local dogs whilst in the "rec" and has behaved perfectly with them, mostly ignoring them. He has been off lead (tentatively, and with me on my guard because I could see him scanning for anything to hunt) and has been joyfully running rings round me. There is already a bond between us, he listens and (sort-of)comes when called-actually he saunters back at his own speed. My old lurcher, Bryn did the same. I describe the behaviour as like him being attached to me by an invisible piece of elastic. He is eating well. The seaside bucket arrangement I first set up for him may not have been at the right height for him. He now has a low oak "table" for his food and water bowls. He is quite the most adaptable sweet natured beast I have ever met and is fitting in really well. He is relaxing by the hour.
I must thank you and Greyhound Gap for matching us up with such a dear dog.
PS Went to the pub today where he was a hit, attracting fuss from several people. He is soooooooo well behaved! dear Bobby

Will you be going to the Gap Show Ruth? I'm bringing Timo Bobby's old house mate. Timo is also very good and sweet natured. Would be interesting to see if they recognise each other xx

Thank you for the lovely update on Bobby, I spent a few hours with him (and Diane and Rob) on the Saturday before you picked him up. I agree, he's lovely, and got a very sweet nature. Keep the updates coming!

We had a long country walk with Bobby today. He paddled in the river with me and my daughter, ran through the butercup meadows and lurched in a field of rape. All we could see was the gentle movement of the yellow rape flowers. He is a true lurcher, blending seemlessly into the countryside. Still, he never goes too far away from us...(well, unless he is chasing a squirrel or has found a willing dog playmate on the rec). He is still worried about loosong his people or being neglected I think, so he is very attentive. He is relaxing even more now and he wags his tail more often. To start with, it was in its groove a lot. He is extremely well loved here.

I have to say that in the last 2 photos of Bobby on the sofa, the person is actually our friend Babs. Babs and Bobby clearly hit it off as soon as they met. In fact, he has admirers wherever he goes. Ruth x

Kerry, I am afraid we won't be able to attend the show. Keith and I are morris dancers and have several engagements to dance locally at the beginning of May. Bobby will be with us of course. Ruth x
