Have just made a trial batch of cupcakes. My colleagues are quite keen on the idea of donating money in exchange for cupcakes, so I am hoping to generate a little bit of income for the kennel fund.
I'm not a natural baker but have made my first trial batch tonight - if all goes well I will make some more for our team meeting on Wednesday.
I will be test tasting after dinner. If I've poisoned myself I probably won't be posting on the forum again - in that case can somebody pop round and collect Fanta? ;D

Edible, but I don't really like the topping - melted white chocolate. The recipe said drizzle bits on, but there was so much it's sort of turned into a hard cap.
Still, I seem to have cracked the basic cupcake. Now just need to work on the topping.
If I ever make anything that looks good I'll take a photo...

You might like to try this alternative for the topping. FOR WHITE CHOCOLATE FROSTING * 100g white chocolate * 140g unsalted butter * 140g icing sugar # Melt the chocolate in the microwave on High for 1½ mins, stirring halfway. Leave to cool. Beat the butter and icing sugar in a large bowl until creamy. Beat in the chocolate. This frosting can be kept for up to one month, just cover and chill. # Up to 48 hrs before serving (or the day before if it's really hot), bring the frosting back to room temperature, then spread over the cakes. These quantities make rather a lot of frosting so maybe make half or use some and chill some for another batch. Jackie x

Many thanks for the suggestion. I have made a second batch and raised £13.50 at work! I'm hoping I can get my colleagues used to a regular cupcake fix, so this will be a steady, if small, stream of income!

Made some coffee and walnut ones last night - I wasn't sure about them, but brought a small sample in and got positive feedback and raised another £7.

Yippee! I've won the paw print cupcake cases in the auction! My colleagues are going to be in no doubt about what they are donating money for! ;D zacsslave - I rather think your cakes will be far superior to my cupcakes so you shouldn't have any problems selling tickets. I will be first in the queue!

I am selling cupcakes for a pound a go (goes well with 'A Pound for a Hound' although I sometimes get confused and say 'A Hound for a Pound' and Fanta starts looking worried!).
Our work cafe sells foul tasting but spectacular looking cupcakes for £1.25 a go - mine don't look as good, yet, but everybody says they taste better.
For the cake raffle would it be an idea to organise it geographically, as I don't suppose cakes will travel well? That way I can win all zacsslave's!
