Greyhound Rescue were collecting at the massive Tesco Extra at Middlebrook Retail Park, Horwich, Bolton ( Bolton Wanders football Ground) last Saturday. I would imagine a very profitable site which is obviously happy to have dog Fundraising . Might be worth a try, same site as the PAH I mentioned.

I tried at the end of last year but hit the buffers big style when I approached Head Office. Got to be worth another punt, though, especially now we can cite a precedent! Do you know whether they had dogs with them? Jo x

Okay, the progress so far is:
3 potential street collections: Glossop, Castleton and Bakewell (please see separate thread if you think you may be available - dates being voted for!)
Letters written to Tesco Extra in Stockport and Baguley
Letters written to IKEA Manchester and IKEA Warrington (not hopeful though as Jen got a flat 'no' from IKEA Derby).
Meet and greet this Saturday at Pets at Home in Bolton - all hands welcome!
Christmas M&G at Stockport P@H already arranged for 18 and 19.12.2010
Once the Derbyshire street collections are arranged and IKEA respond, we'll pop a few P@H M&Gs in-between . . .
Would anyone be up for street collection further north, say the big fish - MANCHESTER on a Saturday?!!! If enough are willing then I'll try and schmooze the council . . .

Ace - even betterer!! Cheers Penny! Jo X Will find out who you are best contacting as sometimes getting letters to correct person at HO is a nightmare. Also when best to contact as they do things corporately now at set times Marie

Jo it's pobably a long shot but why not ask Manchester council if they have the 4th December free? You never know if there's a cancellation, it would also be worth enquiring about a Sunday collection as it will be just as busy around Christmas.
I will come over to help my main problem is the dogs as I will need to get back for them but will come for as long as possible.

You can always crash at ours, ALL of ya! ;D ;D Progress report: I'm waiting to hear from Manchester City Council: The presence of dogs on our collection might be an issue due to the cultural diversity of the population of Manchester, but the position is being clarified and we should know soon. The Derbyshire collections are close to being finalised, and I'm still waiting to hear from IKEA and Tesco. Jo x

I can do Stockport, Glossop and maybe others as, with all of us, if it doesn't clash with other arrangements. I've been trying to arrange something with Marple Co-op but the woman that I have to go through and to whom I have put my request into writing, has not replied and is proving somewhat elusive Maybe next week...

" The presence of dogs on our collection might be an issue due to the cultural diversity of the population of Manchester" Jo, am I missing something? I know I've just returned from holiday so I'm still happy, but what has our dogs got to do with the cultural diversity. Or should I just use my imagination on why they have a problem with dogs...... Hx
