Hi, my name is Flo. I'm about 10 and a half years old and I've been in my new home since 23rd November 2003.
I was living with some other people (I'd been there for two years and I'm not quite sure where I was before that) and I thought I was going to be there for always. But, the people had a change in circumstances and they couldn't keep me. Actually, I'm not sure that the lady of the house really wanted to keep me. It was said that I didn't do anything, didn't play and that I didn't wag my tail
Anyway, one night, very late, Aunty-Greyhound-Gap-Lisa got hold of my Mum (my new Mum) on some technical thing called MSN Messenger and asked her if she'd like to take in a 14 year old girly greyhound. (It was thought that I was 14, but I'm not, I'm 10 as I said at the begining). My Mummy said "oooo eeeek ooooo" and then went to bed to mull it over.
The following day, after finding out more about me and after chatting it through with my new Daddy, it was arranged that I was coming here and that this was going to be my new home.
It's a bit wierd here really because there are lots of other dogs - some are the same shape as me and others are not and there are also lots of cats.
Although I didn't show a huge amount of interest in the cats when I first arrived, I had to wear a muzzle, just to be on the safe side.
This is me in my muzzle, when I'd been here about 2 hours (do not laugh at my ears - they have a life of their own)
I spent the first few days being a bit unsettled and I paced around a bit and I also did a bit of whining, but my Mummy didn't make a fuss because she knew I'd settle and she also realised that it must have been a bit strange for me to come from my old home to this new one and I didn't really understand what had happened, or why.
This is me in the early days, trying hard not to look at the cat, because I knew that I shouldn't
And this is me in the dinner queue when I'd been home for a few days
I've only been home for about two months as I write this, but I feel very settled. This morning, my very own coat arrived through the post for when I go walkies and it's a bit chilly. My new coat is a pretend snow leopard print one and it's much much nicer than this embarassing effort that I have been making do with......
By the way, just so that you know - they were wrong about me in my old home. I do play and I do wag my tail and I do know how to have fun........ look.......
And I also know how to be good and share my new Daddy with the cats
I'm really thankful to Greyhound Gap for having a hand in sending me to my new home. Thanks
Love, Flo
