Is anyone able to help with a lift for the cream saluki x bitch who was found in Kent and has now been taken to Doncaster/N. Lincs to be *looked after*? Her owner has surfaced to claim her, in Kent where she was in the first place Now neither party can afford the transport to get her home again so I said I'd ask around........even a leg of the journey down south would help..............

Whereabouts in Kent is she heading and which way will they be travelling? I may be able to help with the southern bit...
If it's not a stupid question, why was she moved to Lincs in the first place?

She's going to Gillingham which is where she was lost from. As to why......... ......the woman who found her couldn't keep them (there were 2 found) and another woman who has lost her dog came down from Lincs to see if the red (male) dog was hers - it wasn't- but she must've offered to take them in and the finder agreed, so they went up to Lincs. The bitch is microchipped, but with the old owner's details still......who is in Darlington.... so they'd decided as Doncaster was nearer to Darlington, it'd be a good idea. BUT the original owner had sold her to a guy in Kent (who SHOULD have changed the chip details, but didn't get round to it!).......so not only was it NOT a good idea, but also legally not the right thing to do as the dogs should've gone to the police or the dog warden as soon as poss. Then it would've been a piece of cake to return the bitch to her owner.....but hey, who wants an easy life? .............ME!!!!!!

Not quite clear on this - does the current legal owner of the bitch know anything about the dog, or did the pair end up together by chance?

And are they both coming back down again? Presumably they should be, either to go to the warden or remain with the finder for thirty days? I would be fuming if one of my dogs disappeared out of the area under those circumstances. If you can hitch a lift for them down towards London, I can get them back to Gillingham?

The lady who's currently fostering them both would like to keep the dog (it looks like her missing one) and as long as she notifies the dog wardens in Gillingham that she has it and supplies all her contact details etc, they're OK with that. To be honest, I doubt if an "owner" will appear.......so hopefully, everyone will be happy.......apart from the fact the bitch still needs to go home

The Gillingham DW have said in the circs, as long as they know exactly where the dog is (just in case an owner turns up), they're OK with the lady in Doncaster fostering him for the 30 days. So it's just the one needing transport.....

Hiya. We could do a middle leg i.e. meet Anna somewhere on M1 & take down to somewhere on or just north of M25. Days and times are fairly flexible except Wednesdays. Hope this helps. Alison & Veronica.
