Cheers Cookie Will let you know via the thread what is happening! Im going to ring Claire and Jules and see what is happening this morning! Either way I had a chat with Greyhound Gaps chief bean counter yesterday (sorry Alison but you called yourself it first ) and with the kind dontation via GGLL we would be happy to donate £100 towards the costs of the treatment! This may mean we can only donate to one other rescue £50 this month as with it being December etc the fundraising hasnt been as high this month BUT I think this little lady is more needy of it right now

If she can't be moved, then I guess we're all looking at parting with a bit of xmas dosh to pay the vet bill................ Sounds good to me. Anne

OK.....this is straight from the dog warden's themselves: the vet has decided enough's enough for this poor little bitch as her back was broken, as well as her leg and there were extensive internal injuries, so I'm afraid the decision was made for her to be pts. There was no good prognosis for her, and to be honest,a running dog that is so crippled it can't even stand up would NOT be a happy dog.
Life's a bitch.........but thank you everyone for rallying round when needed. We would've found the money needed for this little lass, but sadly this time it was not to be.
Let's all light a candle for her tonight to remember her and light her on her way.

I didn't post the news about this little girl straight away as I've been speaking to those who were going to be directly involved with getting her to me first. Thanks to Lisa, Claire and everyone else who offered us support. She was going to be brought to Phoenyx on Friday but sadly she was too badly injured and it was kindest to let her go. Her back injury had not been apparent when she was found and has only been confirmed today on xrays. She was only a young un, but she's safe now. Mandy would also like to express her thanks to all involved for their interest and offers of support. Thank you. Jules Phoenyx Animal Refuge

Has anyone contacted whippet rescue? I know breed rescues often only "do" purebred dogs but it's worth a shot? JR whippet rescue don't take on whippet x's.

Mandy (the Dog Warden) just called me - she was amazed at the response she got. Have pointed her in this direction, should she have any other pointy crises. I rehomed 2 whippetty things from the same place before we moved (gippo camp just outside Wokingham) - both dumped on a main road and both ended up with broken legs. They blossomed into lovely pets. When I read this last night I got deja vu from my rehoming days in Reading. It would seem this sweetie was from the same bunch of b*****ds. So sorry we're not going to be able to help this little lady...... at least shes no longer in pain Claire
